I am thankful for... my home!

I am thankful for my home. I am thankful that I have somewhere to go daily after a hard day at work. I am thankful that I am able to keep warm on cold nights and cool on hot nights. You know, we take shelter for granted. I hope that I never will. Several years ago I did lots of homeless ministry on mission trips to Atlanta and to Jackson, MS. I also did weekly homeless ministry in Mobile when I attended University of Mobile. I learned that the homeless were for the most part a fabulous group of people that had simply burned all their bridges in life and had no where else to turn. I met some amazing people like Mrs. Linda who had been a registered nurse. She was an amazing person and I think of her often. I wish I knew if she was alive and safe. On my trips I saw some horrific conditions that people call homes. I hope that I remember that as I always hope and dream about the American dream. Is my house the greatest in the world? NO! But is it beautiful, warm, and just perfect for me and my family. YES! Thank you God for my home and for my beautiful family that you have placed inside of it! Protect us I pray!

Lord, I pray for all the homeless people in our country and world. Please reveal yourself to them. Comfort them and provide for them I pray.
